Bio - Shelley Russell
Shelley Russell previously was a Professor and Academic Advisor in the Social Service Worker program and had taught at Sheridan College for the past 6 years. Prior to being part of the Sheridan teaching community she had worked in the non-profit sector and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from the various agencies that she has worked in. Shelley passions brought her to focus her attention on issues of mental health and addictions, crisis intervention, victims of domestic violence and on program development and proposal writing. She has worked as a practicum supervisor for college/university students guiding them as they enter the field and as a developer/facilitator of many specialized programs. Shelley has served on a variety of agencies Board of Directors, as well, she’s held positions on Sheridan’s and Everest’s Program Advisory Councils (PAC) and is a member of the United Way of Peel Region Speakers Bureau.
Shelley is a Sheridan Alumni and previous to entering the social work field she studied in the Maritimes and holds two bachelor’s degrees in science and has a background in medicine. Shelley is a passionate and dedicated mentor who believes in the greatness of every individual and their ability to light their own way in the world!
