    Poem

So, I have to admit I'm a little freaked out about posting this, but what's life without the odd step outside the comfort zone, right?.....Right??
The oddest thing about my moods is at my lowest point, I usually end up with the inspiration to write. Admittedly, they're usually not the most cheerful pieces, but this was something a little different that I wrote for a friend who was having a bad day, and thought I'd take a chance and share it with anyone here who feels like reading it, which may very well be no one, and that's totally fine too.
Good or bad, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

It must be hard to stand up tall
With the weight of the world on your back
I know that it’s so hard to be strong
When life hits you like a heart attack.

When things finally seem to come together
Then in one moment, they fall apart
When you feel so close to the finish line
But then end up back at the start.

    It seems so impossible
To stand up and be strong
It seems it’s all too much to handle
It’s just too hard to hold on

Nothing seems to be going right.
There’s not enough that goes your way
There’s so much that you long to do
But not enough hours in the day

You’re feeling trapped and so alone
It’s like the walls are closing in.
You’re oh so tired of losing
But have forgotten how to win

When everything seems to be wrong
And you’re heart is filled with regret
You’re not sure if you can keep going on,
There is something you just can’t forget.

Though you feel hurt and lost
    You’re never truly alone
Forever and always, I’ll be here for you
As you venture into the unknown

If the weight of the world is too much to bare
I’ll be there to share the load
When you end up where you started
I’ll walk with you again, down the road

When you don’t want to hold on anymore
You need only to hold on to me
I will pick you up, help you carry on
Be whatever you need me to be.

You can do much more than you’ll ever know
For you’ve got the strength of the world inside you
But if that strength should ever fail,
I will be strong for you.

Hello Alto. Thanks for stepping out of your comfort zone and posting your poem.

I too can be very creative when feeling down so I don't find it odd at all.

And I think your friend is very lucky to have you in their life.

Thanks Alto for sharing your poem, I really enjoyed it. I am not very creative when it comes to putting words together into a poem or a song and i guess that is why i enjoy reading poems and listening to music so much because the lyrics often say what i find so hard to express verbally myself.

I look forward to reading more of your poems if you would like to share some.
          Take Care,

I almost cried as I was reading your poem Alto because thats what everyone with a mental illness wants to hear from their loved ones - if only my boyfriend would be able to say that type of thing to me, I would feel sooooo much better all the time because support is the one thing thats the hardest for us to get from normals because we find it sooooo hard to describe whats happening to us and when we do come up with words that explain a little of what we're going through, normals still can't understand it because they seem to not be able to first accept it, then make an effort to understand it. I will say my inspiration has disappeared with being on my meds so any and all inspiration from you (and everyone else in the forum) is gladly accepted. Thank you! And always share your poems - we need them, at least I do.....

Thank you for posting your poetry. I also write poems. They are like laying your soul for others to see and critique. Your courage may inspire me to post one of my own poems....
