I was hoping to post a picture, but all that came up was the above link. Click for something you may find humourous. Or not, I suppose, depending on state of mind. You be the judge.

Hello Uni. A first glance I thought what the heck, but on second glance I noticed that the bottom line it does say "a reference for the rest of us" , so I guess that the book isn't really referring to the people with depression as dummies(although on some days I qualify LOL). I than looked at a preview of the book and it had this to say( P.S. To everyone, I have not read any of the below books, but I have read various For Dummies bks and found some of them bad and some good)

"What do you have to be depressed about?" Bet you've heard that one before. Or how about, "You're depressed? Just get over it!" Easier said than done, right? Or here's a favorite, "They have a pill for that now, you know. Unfortunately, such naïve armchair psychology rarely works for someone suffering from the very real plight of depression. All it does is seek to trivialize depression and characterize depressed people as "whiners" who have nothing better to do than to "complain about their lives." But the truth is, depression is a very real problem. " https://books.google.ca/books/about/...ir_esc=y&hl=en

I then thought, I wonder if they have a bipolar for dummies and sure enough they do. Some of the advice they have in it is

"Bipolar Disorder For Dummies explains the brain chemistry behind the disease and covers the latest medications and therapies. You'll get reassuring, sound advice and self-help techniques that you and your loved ones, including kids and teens, can use to ease and eliminate symptoms, function in times of crisis, plan ahead for manic or depressive episodes, and feel a whole lot better.
      • Covers new diagnosis methods developed by the American Psychiatric Association
      • Increased coverage of genetics, biochemistry, and imaging studies relevant to bipolar disorder
      • Advice on supporting a loved one (who may not want help)
      • Updated and expanded medication guide and treatment options, including Deep Brain Stimulation
Complete with fill-in-the-blank forms and charts, key online resources, and first-hand accounts from real people, Bipolar Disorder For Dummies gives you the latest information and self-help strategies you and your loved ones need to conquer this disease and get on with your lives."

They also have CBT and other books for dummies: https://www.amazon.ca/Bipolar-Disord.../dp/1118338820

So, while I did find the title "Depression for Dummies", a bit off setting I may pick up one of the bks and see how they are. Take Care. paul m p.s. Thx Uni for posting the link
