can family doctor prescribe lithium and quetiapine?

hello everyone, please excuse my english but i am from argentina, southamerica. my husband and are migrating to canada with a skilled work visa. i have bipolar disorder and take 300mg of quetiapine and 900mg of lithium per day. i am worried cause i've been looking for info about the OHIP (omtario health insurance) and found that having a apointment with a specialist, a psychiatrist can take many months. i will be traveling medication for 3 months. the people's department lady from the canadian company that's hiring my husband called a pharmacy and they told her the medication i take can be prescribed by my family doctor. is this correct? i also will be bringing a detailed inform of my bp from my pshyquiatrist in argentina. thank you so much!

Welcome to Canada Camila! Any Canadian family physician (they have to be licensed in Canada) can write a prescription for those medications. From your post I gather you are bringing three months worth of medication with you. You can also have your pharmacy give you a record of your medication as well. It may come in handy.
