help dealing with hospital - mental health department

    Hi,
We are here in Toronto, Canada. Whenever my adult daughter is in the mental health department, the doctors and staff basically ignore me and don't tell me anything, although my daughter lives with me full time. Has anyone been through a similar situation? I wish I could talk to other families, who might know how to deal with this.
I disagree with forcing medication and involuntary hospital stays. Does anyone know a support group for families, not connected to a hospital?

    Hi Camelia,

Thank you for sharing your struggles here. I am going to reach out and see if I can point you in the direction of some supports. I will get back to you as soon as I am able.

      Hi Camelia,

      You’re not alone in this!

A few resources that might be helpful:

      1. Mood Disorders Society of Ontario - Hope + Me Peer Support Groups: Website: https://hopeandme.as.me/schedule.php

      2. Lumenus - Mental Health, Developmental, and Community Services: Website: https://lumenus.ca/

You might want to check out mymira.ca- this is a free mental health resource chatbot developed with Mood Disorder Society of Canada that can help connect you with mental health resources and services in your area, which is where I found these resources!

Hope this helps, and sending you my best!
