I'm Nellie and I just joined our team of forum moderators. I'm really looking forward to interacting with you all through this medium and getting to know my way around the forum.
My background in mental health comes primarily from working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental illness, as well as my own lived experience, and a long history in conflict resolution and peer mediation. My academic background is in social justice and social theory, so I approach the mental health field and emotional labour from the understanding that social systems and systems of power intimately shape all of our lives, especially those who experience multiple, intersecting forms of oppression and marginalization.
For me, relationships are absolutely the stuff of life and I am looking forward to learning from and with you all, and providing whatever support and resources I can.
