Dr had discussed putting me on Risperidol - I don't like the idea of the side-effects - so I found this drug and wondered if anyone has been on this drug? Thanks in advance everyone xoxo

Zeldox/Ziprasidone?

I hated both but Rispiridone was A MILLION TIMES BETTER than Zeldox. With the Zeldox, I was on half of the smallest dose and I was
in bed all day with a pounding headache. I was so sleepy. I couldn't drive, I couldn't do my volunteer work, I couldn't exercise, all I
could do was sleep. I was very depressed about it so it made my depression worse because I thought I would never have energy or
wake up again. When the effects wore off before the next dose, I would cry and be agitated and look really glazed over, as one
person put it.
I've heard that it works for some people but it was so debilitating for me that I can't understand how it could possibly have a
different effect for some people than others. It was very dramatic.
Rispiridone caused agitation, sleepiness, headaches, increased anxiety and muscle twitching in the face. I feel as though my suicidal
ideation also went up while on it but it wasn't anywhere near as bad as the Zeldox. Actually, the first time I went on risperidone I
didn't have any side effects that I can remember (it didn't work that time either though).
Sorry that this sounds so negative. I am very sensitive to drugs and they work differently for everyone so what happened to me
probably won't happen to you in the exact same way. What side effects are you worried about, by the way?
good luck with the med changes and let us know how it goes,

when I was on risperidone I started lactating and had to go off of it. Other than that I loved it.
I don't like Zeldox either. I was on it for a little over a year and it turned me into a zombie, I was tired all the time. And it made my depression worse. That being said, it's a great drug for some people. In the states it's called Geodon, if you want to do more research on it.Rebecca

I hope the risperdal works for you Jen!
for me it did absolutely nothing, but that's probably because it was not mixed with the right meds to start with.
I have always looked up the meds my pdoc wanted to put me on, like this I could ask him what the odds of such a side effect would be, and would I be better off with another med of the same class instead. I am very sensitive to meds, so I have to be really careful!Anne.

HI Anne - yeah I hear ya - I am just scared of the whole thing - it doesn't sit well with me - and i had a pity party for myself last night - the whole why me and why do I have to have this disorder - blah blah blah - I then started to read a really good book and that helped - lots of positive in it - even when negative things happened!"You often meet your destiny on the road you've taken to avoid it."

Oh it's by an author name Everett Peacock and his books are about a Tiki bar with a parrot named Tawikia - really cute and fun - sometimes sad - but the kind of book you don't want to end - have not read one like that in a long, long time and there are 3 of them in the series - started the 2nd one last night."You often meet your destiny on the road you've taken to avoid it."
