    Invega for depression?

    Hi,

My doctor has suggested I try Invega for depression. Has anyone tried it and if so did you find it helped your depression? I had been taking Abilify but it wasn't helping.

    Thanks,

    Cheryl

hi birdie, I've tried invega for my bipolar depression, and found it worked well. the only reason I stopped taking it was because it is not covered by the government. it was a disappointing loss for me!

I hope it works for you!

      Hi Anne

I have started taking 3 mg of invega in the evening and have found that I am very spacy and tired in the morning.....this would make it almost impossible to function at work. What dosage did you start at when you took invega? I am thinking I might have to ask the dr for a lower dosage to start or do you think this will pass with time.

      Thanks, Cheryl

hi Cheryl, I don't remember being sedated and spacey with invega... but that was a few years ago.
it was actually the only med I didn't mind taking because it helped, and I got no noticeable side effects.

if you feel it is too strong a dose to start off with, then you should tell your doctor so. I don't know if it will pass or not, but I can only assume so, as your body gets used to it.

sorry I'm not much help today!
        Anne.

Hello Birdie. About all you can do is try it and see. Some people with depression are helped by antipyschotics, but not everyone. Plus each person reacts differently to each antpsychotic.

The one thing about trying an antipsychotic is that it should lift your depression very rapidly once you at the reccomended dose. If it doesn't or the side effects are too bad, then it is time to try another one. Take Care. paul m
