    Chaos

I don't do very well when my home environment is disturbed. Due to a leak, and some other factors, we are renovating the kitchen. In preparation, the stove, fridge, and dishwasher have all been moved from the kitchen to another room. The dishes, pots and pans etc have been moved to several different rooms. The non fridge food items have been mostly packed in boxes.

This upheaval will be going on for at least 3 weeks. I'm not sure who's more out of sorts, me or my dog. Routine is important to both of us. Never mind the money being spent! I don't even want to be at home.

It doesn't feel like a safe haven anymore. I'm taking my dog Bella to a friends some days and to doggie daycare other days, just so she can get a break from it. Maybe I need to go to daycare too but someone has to be here while the workers are here.

I don't even seem to be able to 'look at the big picture'. Any suggestions are welcome. Okay I'm done, thanks for listening.

Hello AJ. When ever I try to look at the big picture, I usually find that someone/something is blocking my view LOL.

I don't blame you for being upset. I hate changes to my routine too. The only suggestion that I can make is try dividing your time frames into smaller pieces. Rather than say I've got 3 weeks to go, try saying "I've got 7 hrs to go till they leave for the day.

In regards to everything being in disorder, moved or packed away, I'm sorry I can't help you much there. My idea of order is arranging things chronologically. That is, if I can't find something, but I know I had it 10 days ago then it must be somewhere in that pile over there with the dust on it. LOL. Good Luck during your next three weeks. Take Care. paul m

Thanks for the suggestion Paul. 7 hours is more manageable than weeks!

It's a stressful event so don't be too hard on yourself AJ. I have spent the last few months without a kitchen using tables and boxes on the floor and other ingenious fixes for sink etc. after a move to a different house that was missing a kitchen. Oh yes we are finally close and i see the light at the end of the tunnel. The mess however has been trying and tiresome on all of us. Noise from construction gets to me too. Saws etc. Hang in there!

Thanks Lizzy. I do feel for you. Your construction site sounds even more of a mess than mine. We finally have a kitchen back, over 3 weeks later. It looks better being updated, but we were forced into it with a water leak and a lot of damage to the countertop (not to mention the black mold underneath). Of course one thing leads to another and pretty soon you're doing the whole kitchen. It will be good for resale.

I think we'll be moving within 5 years. Big city life is getting a little to big. I want to be close to the big city though. I have a lot of health issues and need to have easy access to specialists. Right now this place is what we need. My dog is a 2 year old lab cross so she needs a big yard. Actually she gets 2 walks a day and runs at the park several times a week. I'm getting a lot of exercise! It has helped deal with the chaos at home.
