    bright light therapy

    Hello!

I know that bright light therapy is dangerous for bipolars. However, it seems that it can also be used effectively to help persons in depression. (https://psychcentral.com/lib/light-t...olar-disorder/) Is there anyone who have tried this therapy or have information about it?

    Thanks!

Hello Paix. Thx for posting the article. Bright light therapy is used by several people with bipolar that I know and with good results.Others can't use it as it does drive mania for them. I suspect that it's like taking an antidepressant for some of us. If I take any kind of anti depressant than am going to have a manic episode in a very short time, so I don't take them. With one exception, if I can't get out of my depression I will take wellbutrin for 4-8 wks. But I have to be careful as it can springboard me right through stable, I only do this when other methods fail and with the consent of my doctor.

So Bright light therapy may affect some people with bipolar more than others . Many health plans cover all of part of SAD lamps. I am including a link to a company, not because I have and connection to that company , but they do have a lot of good information about SAD lights. Also if wander through their site you will see they even provide a sample letter of what your doctor may need to send to an insurance company to get it covered. Even if you don't buy from them, take a look at the site for the free info. Take Care. paul m http://northernlighttechnologies.ca/
