    Medication

    Hello,

I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2010. I have been taking my medication at a very low dose ever since (Abilify & Zyprexa). Now that it's been 8 years that I am in recovery (not only due to the medication by the way, but to many other factors), I am considering talking with my psychiatrist to reduce to dozage but am afraid of some withdrawal symptoms. I don't know if it's actually healthy for me to keep on taking this medication for every, especially since I eventually want to become pregnant.

Anyone else been through this and how was the process for you? thanks

Hello PJane92. One should never stop taking a medication without a doctors supervision. I've came off of many different medications without ill effects.I usually asked my doctor, but sometimes I asked my pharmacist. I never had any trouble psychically stopping antipyschotics. You will notice that I sad physically , mentally was much different. There were times that my mania and/or depression acted up in a hurry after getting off of the meds. Take Care. paul m
