    Anyone tried Zeldox?

Hi, I'm new to this forum .. actually new to any forums. I'm not too sure how this works. I have BP 2 and my pdoc is recommending Zeldox. I'm supposed to start next week. I'd be interested to hear from others who may have taken or are taking it.

    Thanks!

Hi Phoenix367, welcome to the forum. You will find a wonderful group of people here who are very supportive and knowledgeable. I've never taken Zeldox so can't give any feedback on that, just wanted to welcome you to our group.

I've been taking zeldox for about 4 or 5 months now. It's a good drug for me, keeps my mania's in control, but it makes me really sleepy so I take it all at night instead of twice a day.

        Good luck with it.

Hello Phoenix367, and welcome to the forum. It's a friendly and helpful place and I'm glad you found us.

Zeldox is not something I'm familiar with, so can give you no info, but I see Sweetest1, and no doubt others, have expeience with it. I wish you well.

Welcome to the forums Phoenix367. Here's a link to information on Zeldox. It's a place to start anyway. If you have any questions people on the forum are great at providing support and are a good resource of information.

P.S. Take it with food. That will increase it's absorbtion up to twofold.

AJ's so right about taking the Zeldox with food, and that doesn't mean with an apple, it needs to be with a meal of at least 500 calories. I take mine with dinner. When I fist started taking it I took it with breakfast and dinner, but it meant I had to eat a much bigger breakfast than I was used to.

                      Any other significant side effects?

The pdoc had previously upped my Seroquel to 75mg but it was making me way too sleepy hence the switch to Zeldox. Hopefully the Zeldox will provide some sedation but not so much that I can't function during the day. The pdoc also suggested only the night dose at dinner. I'll keep you all posted once I start (Monday).

Thanks again! Have an awesome day!

                        Rebecca,

Is it hard on the stomach if you don't take it with a large amount of food?

                        Thanks!

Hello Phoenix and welcome. The link AJ has printed is a good one and provides a lot of easy to read info. AJ has also pointed out that taking Zeldox with food will increase asportion by up to two fold.(Rebecca mentioned this too)

It's a bit of a weird med that way in that it requires food in your stomach to be properly asborbed. If you only have a light snack( say an apple or toast) the med will not totally asborb into your system. So one day you may get a full dose, the next day when you eat less, a 1/2 of a dose.

It probably will make you feel tired at first, possibly even sedated until you get used to it. A warning, be very careful with booze and taking this med, the effects can be additive and they both use your liver to metabolize.

Good luck with it and please feel free to ask more qestions or to answer other peoples. Take Care. paul m

paul hit the nail right on the head, it's all about eating enough to absorb the med, it's not about it being hard on your stomach at all. The tiredness usually kicks in, for me, about 3 to 4 hours after I take it, so if I take it all with dinner, then it makes me exhausted by bedtime, which is great.
