    ODSP for Bipolar II?

Hi everyone - so I am just trying to figure out if I am able to get any temporary financial help until I can get back on my feet again - how long is this process - am I just wishful thinking here that I might be able to get any kind of financial support? Any help would be appreciated.

You may be eligible for CPP disability but it takes a while to get. You're doctor also needs to think you'll be unable to work at any job for at least 1 year (I believe). You can find out all about it online, just google CPP Disability.

Hello Jen. In brief the following are what you may or may not be elligible for and the approx. time for proccessing a claim. In all cases it's the degree of difficulty of the illness at the present time and not the type of disability that you have. For example, you may be able to collect disabilty for depression, but not for bipolar 1. Effectively your doctor has to say that you cannot work and that is all that matters, not the type of illness.

CPPD(Canada pension plan disability), disability must be severe and expected to prevent you from working for at least a year. It has no deductions for other income or for owning property or other assests of any sort. You can own a recreational property. Maximum amount that you can collect is just over $1100 a mth(depending how much you paid into CPP). Minimum wait time 4 mths, average 6-8 mths before getting a check.

ODSP. If you have any major assests other than a principle residence you are ineligable. Max about $1000 a mth, minimum wait time about 4 mths average wait time 10 mth to first ck. (although someone who qualifies can collect OW(Ontario Works, formerly called welfare) right away.

OW has the same assest rules and the max is about $550 a mth

UIC( now called employment insurance) sick benefits. Based soley on how much you have paid into it and having other assests does not matter. Maximum period paid for is usually 15 weeks and the processing time is about 4 weeks. For more info on this http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/s...sickness.shtml

Hello Jen. Thx. As you know, that's the way it is with bipolar, either you know everything or you know nothing .Or perhaps it's just some days I forget everything. Take Care. paul m

Moogle!!!! Perfect - okay gang - so I think I am going to say good-bye to nursing and do something else - I am fed-up with trying to stick myself into something that makes me so unhappy - so I have my resume out for security jobs since I have the law enforcement background - I would ideally like to do mobile supervisor stuff - that way I can drive around mostly and just do my thing and it would reflect my older age LOL - I feel better for the decision - I do have to take a course in order to become licensed - this is new as of this year - which is fine - so that is the new plan - maybe now this miserable depression will lift a little bit since I hate nursing so much and now I don't have to do it anymore!!!! HORRAY - no more nursing

Hello Jen. If you get irritated at my next suggestion then you know that it's your mania acting up and not just me making a dumb suggestion.

Whether you decide to change careers or not, you should make sure that you keep your nurses lic. up to date as it is something to fall back on, even if only temporarily or from time to time. I do hope that you find a career to enjoy as it must be miserable doing something that you don't like. Take Care. paul m

Hello All. (specifically Uni and Stormy) According to Google, a Moogle is a cute little creature with small, black eyes and bat-like wings. A single black antenna sticks up from their heads, with a small colorful ball at the end called a "pompom". Their ears are usually shaped like a cat's and their fur is white or light pink and they appear in the game Final Fantasy. I am sure that Atlantis can insert a pic.

While I admit to being cute and cuddley and I have had a few fanatasies, I am not small and do not have wings or a pompom. Take Care. paul m

Makes sense to keep your options open, but I thinki quite normal to 2nd guess . The problem with making a decision like that sometimes you have to try the other choice to be able to see the results whether better or worse or same. I fight with myself all the time ont this one, and its harder as we get older to take those risks, large or small.
