Integrated Mood and Anxiety Program at Homewood in Guelph

Anyone have any thoughts on the above program? I attended it about 10 years ago and am thinking about going back. If you have been there recently, would you recommend it?

I haven't been there myself but I had a psychiatrist who wanted to send me there. She said that the waiting list was 2-5 years long or something ridiculous like that and I couldn't wait so I had to do other alternatives. I am new to the forum and know nothing about you but if you are in a place that you need 24hr support, and there is a space for you: there's no harm in trying a treatment program; if it works, you'll be glad you went. If it isn't helping, you can check out. Do you know how long the waiting list is right now?

    good luck!

If you have semi-private coverage, it is 3-5 weeks. I don't know how long it is for an OHIP bed.

wow, I was way off the mark, eh? It must have been more like 5 months than years; however, I was talking about the OHIP beds as I never had partial coverage.

No, I am pretty sure it stretches into years for a ward (i.e fully paid OHIP bed). It would interesting to know if their out-of-province patients are eligible for the ward beds... which would explain the wait since there is not another program like this in Canada that I know of.

Hello MercurialMind. I have never been to Homewood, but I know a lot of people that have been. They are all unanimous that the treatment there is second to none. Take Care. paul m

Hello Astronaut. Homewood does have a long waiting list if you are only covered by OHIP, unless you can pay for a semi private room yourself($236 per day extra). If someone does only have OHIP and they have the flexibility to come on a moments notice, they can go on a waiting list and sometimes the wait is short. I know one women who only had to wait a few mths and she got called on a Friday to be there on a Monday, but it got her in much earlier than normal. Take Care. paul m

Homewood does offer beds to all Cdns subject to them paying the full daily rate, minus whatever there provincial insurance maximum is.
