    Escitalopram

I'm curious to learn about escitalopram (and taking depression medication in general). I've been taking 10 mg per day for just over a month. I think it's really helped me. In the last week, however, I noticed my depressed symptoms come back in a real way. My theory is that I started taking the medication at the same time I take my multivitamin, fish oil and immune 7 supplements. Could it be this affected the absorption of the medication?
I find I like to take the medication first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Do others have any times they like to take meds or have noticed any interactions? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum mom22sweets. Your best resource for checking on drug interactions would be your pharmacist. Drugs.com has a drug interaction checker, but it has its limitations.

Hello Mom22sweets and welcome. As AJ has said a pharmacist is a great source of info. One of the best at home sources is Drugs.com https://www.drugs.com/

For example I entered the name of your medication and it said that you can take it with or without food. Drugs.com also sez that some people may need to move up to 20mg after a wk or so. However you would need to talk to your doctor about that. (it's not unusual to have to move up in dosage)

Their interaction checker shows no adverse reactions between your med and fish oil. I didn't run the rest of you vitamins etc through, but it's easy to do. Please don't hesitate to ask questions, figuing out meds can be tough to do. Take Care. paul m

If you do talk to a pharmacist, they should ask you for
          1. a verbal or written list of all your medications and herbal/natural, other the counter products you take.
          2. any drug allergies you may have
          3. What other health conditions you have
Not all do, but it's the only way to be thorough.
