Hello Yojimbo, and welcome to the forum. I know it can be discouraging when an antidepressant stops working. I've had that happen in the past, although I've never taken Celexa, As far as your medication options go, I'm sure there are many, but it's not something I can answer because I'm not a doctor of any sort. It's the kind of thing that it's best to ask your doctor. Regardless of that, talk therapy can be very helpful too, and support groups, and other non-medication tools. Posting on here is one of them, it has helped me a lot just to put things in words. I hope it will help you in that way too.

I will have to go to a walk-in clinic I have no doctor. I guess I can ask the doctor there to refer me to a therapist. I'm sick and tired of reading articles on depression and the whole beating around the bush without options. I'm sure the writers and doctors of the articles I've read mean well but alot of it ends in you will have to talk to your doctor. Which means drugs and I don't believe in that long term trlheres to much bs with mental health help. And naturalpathic is not even covered. I tried going to one before about depression and anxiety and her response was okay you need to love yourself more ?? You can't mind over matter depression and say I'm going to love myself and feel better. There's so much useless help and cons for money this country is pretty sick and needs to boot out alot of this con artist

Hello, Yojimbo. I take Celexa and found it to work really well for me. There are some days where I question if it is working well enough because I'm still not 100% of how I normally feel but for me I think it just takes more time. I was actually impressed with the doctors I saw in person when I first got my med. They were very thorough and knowledgeable and when I saw the second dr to renew my script he did an online questionnaire which showed I had mild depression and asked if I wanted the dose increased. At the time I was still feeling some nausea on occasion and some sort of racing chest feeling (not sure how to describe it) so I opted to stay with the dose I was on. Being back home I went to the walkin clinic to get blood work done as I was advised and it was just a baby on the video screen that was the Dr. He just looked so young to me because I'm so old I Guess lol.

I think going to a walk in clinic is a good thing to do if you are feeling terrible. I was recently referred to another specialist by the video doctor for a minor problem so you should be able to get a referral to mental health if you want as well.

Yojimba, I'm sorry to hear about your experience. The side effects sound distressing, and I hear your frustration in receiving the "revolving door" treatment. I have not had experience with antidepressants or anti-anxiety medication although I've had these conditions for most of my life. However, my mom experienced unpleasant side effects when she was put on medication for Alzheimer's, which included antidepressants. It did her no good, and she chose not to take them anymore. In my humble opinion, there is a danger in reducing depression to sheer biochemistry. For sure, that is one facet, sometimes, but I'm a firm believer in looking at the whole person. Life happens. Life is depressing and anxiety provoking. We experience interpersonal conflict, financial problems, bereavement, political unrest to name just a few. Combine that with our unique personality and ways of dealing with the world and I don't think depression can be reduced to a "six percent solution". If you are experiencing concerning side effects and don't have a doctor, what about a visit to the emergency department. Mom got access to geriatric resources much faster that way. Sadly, we didn't find out until after the fact that one of the Alzheimer's medication she took for a time contributed to mini strokes and congestive heart failure, although I'm sure they would have occurred anyway.
