Thx Villa. I had not thought of noise. I tend to like things silent so a loud hum would probably negate any benefit I would get. Take Care. paul m

Honduras, wow! I have some extended family that have a home there. Where abouts are you going? Have you gotten the vaccinations recommended for that area?

I'm flying in to San Pedro Sula, then being picked up and driven to Copan Ruinas. I work for a small Christian not-for-profit that works with children and youth in Metro Vancouver and two of our Interns went down to Honduras and started a similar program there. I'm going to visit them and help out with some of their admin. Then they are arranging for me to spend a few days out on the coast at the beach...for medicinal purposes.

Yes, I got my Hep A and B vaccinations and will get H1N1 before I go. There is malaria at the coast but I read that the mosquitoes that carry it generally bite at night so I will take precautions for the few days/nights that I am there.

I also heard from the person who did my job before me that I could do volunteer work in Mazatlan, Mexico. I've been to Mazatlan twice on cruises and like it a lot so that is intriguing for down the road.

Hello Villa. While we don't expect souviners(well I don't, but Woody and AJ might) , if you brought back some sunshine I probably would remember you in my will . ( when you have no money its easy to put people in your will) Anyways, even though your trip is a few weeks away, in case I forget, pls enjoy yourself. Take Care. paul m

I can hear the waves rolling in to shore already. I would like a sea shell please.

Just decided this afternoon to skip the beach part of my trip to Honduras and spend all my time in Copan Ruinas (if that works out for my friends there). THEN I think I'll go to Mexico in the new year for a beach vacation. I'll take my mom and get my parents to pay for it. They owe me anyway.

I'm still trying to convince my pdoc to lobby the BC government for a week in Mexico to be considered pharmaceutical for anyone with SAD and therefore covered by Fair Pharmacare. Seriously. Couldn't they work out some NAFTA agreement? Think of all the benefits!

Last year the jetstream took an extended winter vacation to Mexico, causing us all to have a winter horribleah. If that happens again, I'll try to bring the jetstream home with me. I'm sure I could fit it into my carry-on luggage...

I endorse the idea wholeheartedly ... only thing is Mexico might be a little to dangerous for my likings...

A nice quiet stretch of beach in a nice quiet province of Mexico near a nice quiet town peopled by nice New Normal type Mexicans. I'm SURE it's possible.

Hello Villa Perhaps you could talk to my father, he owes me a few vacations, he just never coughs up. Of course you would have to come out of New Normal to talk with him as he rarely talks to anybody who doesn't reside in the old country. Take Care. paul m

Having started this thread on Oct. 8 complaining about the snow, I am happy to report that it's now Nov. 4 and for the next few days the temperature will be above zero - Yes! There is a God!

VillaStraylight, your winter plans sound great. Lucky you!

Hey Uni! I'm enjoying the same great weather one province over in Alberta. It seems that we got November weather in October and October weather in November.

We weren't even sure if the leaves were going to fall; they froze on the branches last month and never even changed colours. They finally did fall and I'm glad it's been warm otherwise I'd say to h*** with raking them up.

The good thing to report is that both my son and I have been using the light and so far so good. I have a tendency to cycle down in either October or February so I'm feeling really good to have dodged one bullet anyway.

My son has had problems in Jan,Feb,Mar so we're keeping our fingers crossed.

It is kind of nice ... Sun out ... you can go for a good brisk walk or do some yard work and not sweat like a dog

I find this bit of nice weather has lifted my spirits too. My moods tend not to plummet too bad until spring as long as I stay away from major anxieties. If I do not then my moods can plunge in a hurry.

In regards to leaves, I figure God put them there he can clean them up . Usually does too over the winter, if not the first lawn cutting does it. I really hate yard work. Take Care. paul m

I totally agree with you Paul.
I actually do not have a lawn, I live in an apartment building
I was just helping a friends out
