The Canadian Military and Veteran Families Leadership Circle was a component of the Military and Veteran Families in Canada Initiative, a partnership between the Vanier Institute of the Family and the Canadian Armed Forces to build awareness, capacity, competency and community regarding military and Veteran families in Canada.

Purpose

The purpose of the Military and Veteran Families in Canada Initiative was to understand the unique experiences, expectations and perspectives of military and Veteran families, and to ensure military families have equitable access to services and programs in their neighbourhoods. A leadership circle and knowledge network was established to connect community clinicians, researchers, community organizations and the general public in this innovative five-year collaboration.

Goals

The aim of the Canadian Military and Veteran Families Leadership Circle was to leverage the skills, talents and expertise of key community leaders to ensure the effective development and delivery of services and programs for military families. Areas of focus included early childhood/preschool, education, physical and mental health, community and social services, rehabilitation and integration, employment and labour.
