Summary

Mood Disorders Society of Canada is seeking an experienced Veteran Programs Coordinator to work as part of a small team. Being a CAF or RCMP Veteran or Veteran Family Member is considered an asset for this role. The goal of the Veteran programs is to provide high-quality service and support to this community in a timely manner. This role is a full-time position.

Under the direction of the MDSC Director (or designate), the Veteran Program Coordinator is responsible to meet all criteria, carrying to completion the work charged with, and shall coordinate all the various tasks to ensure the successful achievement of overall project goals.

This position is REMOTE, however, (national) travel may be required to attend meetings, wellness conferences or tradeshows as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Data Management and Maintenance

  • Data Integrity and Quality Control: Oversee and uphold the rigorous process of data integrity and quality review for the registration process ensuring resources are expertly vetted and validated.
  • Database Expansion: Drive and coordinate the continuous expansion of the registration database to accommodate expansion of the MDSC Veteran Program services and supports.

Outreach and Communication

  • Volunteer Coordination Support: Manages and coordinates volunteers involved in the Veteran Programs. This includes tracking the onboarding process, training, assignment, volunteer satisfaction and participation in interviews.
  • Partnership Development: Lead outreach efforts to foster and strengthen collaborations with existing like-minded Veteran organizations.
  • Strategic Alignment: Engage through presentations stakeholders from the private and public sectors to ensure that MDSC’s Veteran Programs are well known.
  • Engagement Activities: Coordinate and attend stakeholder meetings.

Technical Knowledge

  • Expansion Coordination: Directly assist with the coordination of MDSC’s Veteran Programs expansion across all Canadian provinces and territories.
  • Cultural Adaptation: Coordinate efforts to ensure MDSC’s services and supports cater to the unique needs of the Veteran and Veteran Family Member culture.
  • Communications Support: Assist with project communication support, including co-ordinating advertising, promotions, and social media graphic development.
  • Knowledge Transfer Implementation: Coordinate knowledge mobilization deliverables, such as the annual webinars for partners, seminars for program participants, the MDSC biannual newsletter, and general outreach.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to Post-secondary education in social sciences, and/or business field.
  • Experience: Proven experience in volunteer coordination, community engagement, and partnership development and outreach. Direct experience working within the Veteran community and mental health sector is an asset.
  • Background: CAF Veteran or Family Member or RCMP Veteran or Veteran Family Member: considered an asset.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively independently or within a small team consisting of: Veterans, Family Members, Trauma Informed Mental Health Professionals, Collaborative organizations and People with Lived Experience.
  • Cultural Competence: Demonstrated experience working in the Veteran Community an asset.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for coordinating partners, data capture and analysis and disseminating knowledge materials.
  • Technical Familiarity: Excellent computer skills including: MS Office Suite / Outlook / Excel. Familiarity or willingness to learn: CANVA and Survey Monkey. Knowledge of Social Media will be required.
  • Ethics: Awareness of ethics related to data protection.

  • The successful candidate must be willing to have a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
  • Understanding of French considered an asset.

Remuneration: $55,000.00 per year
