Mood Disorders Society of Canada (MDSC) is very pleased to announce that VIA Rail Canada has joined the Defeat Depression campaign as a national sponsor.
VIA Rail’s sponsorship aligns with their mission to ‘strive to make a real difference in the communities we call home’. VIA will be supporting the campaign through a Pan-Canadian travel package worth $15,000 to be awarded to a campaign participant. This sponsorship brings exciting campaign news for the 2018 Defeat Depression event participants and is sure to encourage even more people to take part in supporting the mental health programs and services in their communities. “Via Rail Canadas’ support of the national Defeat Depression campaign illustrates that just as Via Rail touches communities from coast to coast, so too does our efforts to defeat the impact depression has on all communities, and all families!”, states MDSC’s National Executive Director, Dave Gallson.
VIA Rail has generously provided a grand prize package for a return trip for 2 people from Montreal/Toronto to Vancouver in a sleeper + cabin, with double occupancy! This also includes a trip for 2 from a VIA Rail departure station to Toronto, in business class. The journey on board will include one Sleeper Plus Class cabin to allow our travellers to rest soundly at night. This class includes priority boarding, access to the Toronto lounge upon departure, meals and non-alcoholic beverages on board. The same incredible features are applicable for the return trip from Vancouver! This exciting travel package worth $15,000 will go to a Defeat Depression participant who registers at any Defeat Depression event across Canada and raises $200 for the campaign.
To be eligible for this Travel Grand Prize, simply register online for any 2018 Defeat Depression event and raise $200 or more to support mental health services across the country. For each $200 raised by a registered participant, they will receive one ballot entry into the grand prize draw. For example: if you register and raise $400 in online fundraising donations, you will receive two ballots entered into the draw. The more money campaign participants raise in support of mental health the more entries they receive and the greater their chance at the vacation of a lifetime! Eligible participants in our spring events will also be included. The draw will be held on the December 21st, 2018 with a live Facebook feed. The grand prize winner will be contacted directly and also announced via MDSC twitter @MoodDisordersca, @DefDepression and online at www.defeatdepression.ca.

Defeat Depression is a national mental health fundraising campaign created by MDSC that supports local community mental health organizations. All across Canada, volunteers organize walks, runs and other physical and social activities to raise funds to be used locally.
