I have worked as a social worker in the fields of child protection and children with disabilities, with a keen interest in social issues and mental health. I am a regular blog writer for CREST.BD’s “lived experience”; writing about what it is like to live with mental illness. I am currently living well with bipolar disorder and use my 31 years’ experience to help those who are newly diagnosed. It is my hope that in sharing my story it will help those who are struggling and perhaps decrease the length of their journey to wellness.

I developed a keen interest in writing last year and am taking a course in creative writing at UBC after a 43-year hiatus as a student! We can still have hopes and dreams living with bipolar disorder. These days I can be found writing, making sure to maintain a healthy balance between work and play. Most days you can find me going for long power walks on Vancouver’s Greenway, reading and spending time with family and friends.
