Mood Disorders Society of Canada announces the 2022 Recipient of the Marg Starzynski Mental Health Leadership Award

The Mood Disorders Society of Canada is proud to announce Mike Shoreman as the 2022 recipient of the Marg Starzynski Mental Health Leadership Award.   This award is presented to the individual whose dedicated leadership in community mental health awareness and through personal contributions to raising awareness of mental illness has had a positive impact on the mental health community.

“Mike Shoreman is not just an advocate for the mental health of Canada’s youth, he is an advocate of the mental health of Canadians.  He has bravely shared his own mental health journey – Mike was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome in 2018.  This summer Mike made Canadian history becoming the first Canadian and person with physical disabilities to cross each of the 5 Great Lakes, raising critical funding and awareness for mental health.”

“Mike is a leader in the field of mental health promotion and the MDSC Board is pleased to recognize him for his outstanding accomplishments with the Marg Starzynski Mental Health Leadership Award.  Congratulations Mike for your dedicated commitment to raising awareness and funds for mental health in Canada.”  Cynthia Black, Chairman of the Board of Mood Disorders Society of Canada.
