Volunteer- TikTok Account Engager

The Mood Disorders Society of Canada (MDSC) is seeking creative, flexible, reliable individuals for the volunteer role of TikTok Account Engager to assist with the social media marketing needs for the MDSC account as well as the Defeat Depression (DD) account. This is an unpaid volunteer position.

This position will support organizational goals to establish a strong brand and social media presence for MDSC, DD and its related events and activities. The purpose of the TikTok Account Engager role is to follow the outlined marketing plan to achieve measurable results, drawing attention to DD and MDSC. They will help promote MDSC and the DD campaign to support awareness of mental illness, mental health, and fundraising events.

Objectives of the Social Media Plan

  • Engage communities year-round with the Defeat Depression campaign.
  • Increase our social media followers and further engage local communities.
  • Show sponsors and supporters that we are increasing our reach and continually expanding.
  • Increase awareness of mental health and encourage discussions in communities across Canada.

Position Details

  • Manage and maintain the Defeat Depression (DD) TikTok account and/or the MDSC TikTok account.
  • Post relevant content associated to assigned campaign locations to increase audience engagement.
  • Monitor assigned accounts for relevant feedback, questions, comments and respond to inquiries within 48 hours of their posting.
  • Report directly to the Social Media Coordinator.
  • Work from a ‘virtual’ office.

The estimated time commitment for this position is 2-5 hours per week. We ask for a minimum commitment of one year for this position.

Qualifications

  • Experience with TikTok, familiarity with social media marketing terms and strategy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive with reliable problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively from a virtual workspace.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mental illness and the mental health field, and/or lived experience with mental illness.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality, bringing concerns or questions to the attention of supervisors when needed.
