National Sponsorship Coordinator Application

In this position you will recruit, build national connections, and source new sponsors. Working with the National Defeat Depression Coordinator and MDSC Staff, you are responsible for acquiring in-kind, and event sponsorships, ensuring that the sponsor obligations are fulfilled, and each sponsor feels the true value of a partnership with the Defeat Depression Campaign.

Defeat Depression Administrative Coordinator Application

In this role you will be part of the Defeat Depression national campaign team assisting with campaign management activities, helping organize a dispersed workforce of national volunteers, attending meetings, and connecting with our National Campaign Coordinator regularly. This position requires approximately 5 hours a week and may be great for you if you are very organized and an excellent communicator.

Defeat Depression Marketing and Social Media Coordinator Application

In this supervisory leadership role you will be part of the Defeat Depression national campaign team overseeing and supporting a team of account managers, monitoring campaign performance and providing recommendations for improvements. You will work closely with our National Campaign Engagement Specialist, Outreach Coordinators, and National Digital Creative Specialist to ensure alignment of messaging and branding. This role requires approximately 5 hours a week and might be great for you if you are exceptionally organized, digitally creative, and if you know how to mobilize online marketing and social media strategies to affect meaningful change.

MIRA Indigenous Expansion Volunteer

This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in AI and mental health! We are wanting to work with First Nations, Métis, Inuit, or Non-Status Peoples to identify mental health resources and demo chatbots made specifically for Indigenous communities in Canada. This project will come with a certificate for volunteership from MDSC and is perfect for students wanting to learn about computer science or social science. We are also welcoming non-Indigenous Peoples with backgrounds in Indigenous studies, sociology, or psychology to support the Indigenous expansion of MIRA. All training will be provided and guided by our Indigenous extension lead.

MIRA French Expansion Volunteer

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to help with tasks supporting the French expansion of MIRA, our mental health chatbot! Your role will include testing the chatbot, assisting with identifying and logging French mental health resources, as well as evaluating and reviewing resources. All training will be provided!

National Volunteer Coordinator

The Mood Disorders Society of Canada’s volunteer program is a cornerstone of our organization. As a volunteer coordinator you would help build and manage a national team of volunteers by recruiting and training new volunteers, reporting on progress, and regularly meeting with volunteers to discuss progress, track workloads, provide guidance, and monitor morale. Given the scope and numerous new and ongoing activities at MDSC, this position is a leadership opportunity that will provide diverse experience in project leadership and management, meeting facilitation, task coordination, coaching, mentoring as well as human resource management. This position requires a commitment of 7.5 hours a week.

As an Improving Veterans Wellness, Companionship Conversationalist volunteer you will be able to learn about the importance that connection has to mental health by supporting Veterans and / or their family members in a telephone conversation. This role offers one-on-one phone calls with the ability for the program participant to speak informally with a caring person. These calls are offered in a safe, private and trust-based environment. In your role, you will have regularly scheduled phone calls with a Veteran and/or family member/s as a way of providing connection. Companionship calls take place Monday to Friday evenings from 6 – 9 pm eastern. You would only be required to work at times that are scheduled with your clients. *This role requires a vulnerable sector check.

MIRA Research Assistant

As a volunteer research assistant you will be able to learn about mental health by supporting MDSC’s ongoing projects and initiatives by preparing documents and proposals, and conducting literature searches, data extraction, and data entry. This role requires approximately 5 hours of commitment per week and might be great for you if you are interested in supporting meaningful mental health research, if you’re familiar with the research process, and if you’re good at writing successful proposals and reports.
