Bio – Sharla Robertson
National Program Manager with Mood Disorders Society of Canada
Sharla is a dedicated activist and young professional. She is passionate about mental health- allowing her own lived experiences, and experience with vulnerable populations to motivate her.
After graduating from the administration program through the Algonquin School of Business in 2015, she started looking for ways to implement her skills while making a difference. Sharla has taken part in many different events over the years as a volunteer, whether it be graphic design for fundraisers, secretarial work for board meetings, or raising money by participating in fundraisers such as the Coldest Night of The Year in 2017 and 2020.
Sharla started with MDSC as a volunteer on the Brockville Defeat Depression Campaign Committee in 2019. She then started volunteering her time managing the Defeat Depression social media accounts. Her work ethic and creative mindset gained her a position with MDSC. Now she is the National Executive Coordinator and works on multiple projects nationally.
She is a recipient of both an Ontario Volunteer Service Award (2015) for her contributions to local and national non-profit housing boards, and a Brockville and Area Young Professionals ‘Top 40 Under 40’ Award (2020) for her philanthropy and professional office experience.
Passionate about photography, nature, and art, as well as helping the less fortunate and most vulnerable- you can often find her bringing all these passions into each project.
