For Immediate Release, June 10, 2024– Mood Disorders Society of Canada (MDSC) is proud to announce that CN has come on board as an official sponsor for the 2024 Defeat Depression mental health campaign. This partnership supports our ongoing efforts to increase essential mental healthcare programs and services for those affected by mental illness, and their families across the country.

The Defeat Depression campaign is a national fundraising initiative that unites Canadians in the fight against depression and other mental illnesses. The funds raised goes directly to programs and services delivery, mental health research, and supporting mental health organizations to reduce stigma, foster hope, and provide compassionate support for those affected by mental health challenges.

“CN’s commitment to supporting mental health initiatives aligns perfectly with our mission,” says Dave Gallson, National Executive Director of MDSC, “Their generous sponsorship will enable us to further provide the Defeat Depression campaign across Canada, expand our reach, amplify our message, and ultimately touch the lives of more Canadians living with mental health conditions.”

As a leading transportation and logistics company, CN has a longstanding tradition of giving back to the communities where their employees and customers live and work. This new sponsorship underscores CN’s belief in contributing to the well-being and mental health of their community members.

“We are proud to sponsor the Mood Disorders Society of Canada and their Defeat Depression campaign, as we recognize the importance of mental health and well-being for our employees and the communities we serve,” says Olivier Chouc, Senior Vice-President and Chief Legal Officer at CN. “We are committed to supporting initiatives that raise awareness and provide hope and healing for those who struggle with mental illnesses.”

The Defeat Depression campaign hosts a variety of events, including virtual and in-person walks, runs, and bike rides, empowering participants to raise funds and increase support in their local communities.
