Summary
Under the direction of the National Executive Director, the National Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Pathway to Benefits Project, an initiative jointly managed by the Mood Disorders Society of Canada.
The National Project Manager must be a self-starter, capable of working independently and will be responsible for meeting all criteria, carrying to completion projects that he/she is charged with under the program to ensure the successful achievement of project goals.
Location: This is a home office-based position, and access to a vehicle is required.
Duties:
Supervisory Functions:
- Supervise and evaluate project staff, contractors and external vendors identified as necessary to achieve project objectives;
- Provide leadership, direction, training and support to project staff and volunteers as required.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining the project work plan, including milestones and deliverables;
- Ensure that the execution of all tasks are carried out on schedule and on budget to achieve the identified objectives;
- Proactively identify resources needed for project implementation;
- Proactively identify risks and present solutions to ensure the successful completion of milestones and timelines within budget;
- Develop monthly and quarterly program evaluation reports, based on established indicators, for review by senior leadership;
- Develop all materials as necessary to fulfill project objectives;
- Obtain and analyze information as required to successfully achieve project objectives, including identification of resources that can be adapted to achieve project objectives.
- Outreach to external stakeholders to support the uptake of the program within various organizations;
Communications Functions:
- Lead the development of a strong network of stakeholders;
- Assist with program outreach, deliver presentations, support volunteer training and provide support to community stakeholders and employers in local and regional businesses, as required;
- Attend and promote the project at conferences, workshops, meetings, events as well as in-person outreach;
- Liaise with social media team to increase awareness for program resources featured on the website;
- Communicate with other stakeholders as appropriate;
- Prepare written and verbal reports as required by senior leadership;
- Supervise the development of communication material to promote the project, including articles, blog posts, presentations, posters, etc.
- Serve as project champion promoting the project to staff at partner organizations and other stakeholders.
Administrative Functions:
- Coordinate and support any committees required;
- Schedule, organize and support all training events required;
- Design and maintain project and technical documentation;
- Provide regular project reports and other related documents as directed and as required by funding agreements;
- Ensure that all funding agreements are carried out in accordance with stated objectives;
- Provide project data collection, statistical analysis and written reports regarding program operations.
Financial Functions:
- Ensure monthly expense reports are submitted to the National Executive Director for review and processing;
- Ensure filing and other documentation requirements are met with respect to the program/project funding contracts and project requirements;
- Ensure effective financial controls are in place and budgets are spent in accordance with funding directives and as communicated by the MDSC National Executive Director;
- Provide project plans that include scheduling, cost inclusion, etc., as required.
Other Duties:
- As a member of the MDSC staff team, participate in planning educational and staff functions as directed;
- Represent MDSC on committees and meetings relating to the project as directed;
- Assist with general MDSC communications functions, as required;
- Other duties as directed by the MDSC National Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in social sciences, marketing and/or business field, or equivalent experience;
- Strong proven non-profit project management experience;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to speak, read/write and understand French an asset;
- High level of comfort conducting outreach to external organizations;
- Familiar with various provincial and federal disability benefits
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Office 365 Suite;
- Ability to work comfortably in both a grassroots movement and in a bureaucratic setting;
- Proven ability to develop and maintain productive networks;
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently;
- Experience working in a virtual environment;
- Ability to work in a team environment and to work well independently; and
- Direct experience within the mental health area is considered an asset.
Remuneration: $75,000 annually
This position is fully funded until March 31, 2027 with the possibility of extension beyond this date.
