Bio – Sandy Luu
Sandy (she/her) is a project volunteer coordinator for the Mood Disorders Society of Canada. As part of the Core MIRA Team, Sandy leads resource cataloguing and provides ongoing support to our wonderful volunteers. In addition to supporting research activities, she loves to geek out about Artificial Intelligence with the core team.
Sandy’s journey with MDSC began in 2021 when she volunteered for Oakville’s Defeat Depression campaign and joined the National Youth Advisory Council’s (NYAC) mental health podcast team. Since then, she has been a strong advocate for mental wellness and youth empowerment.
Sandy graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from McMaster University and is now pursuing a Master’s degree in Neuroscience at Queen’s University. Her research explores topics in neuropsychology and tools for online psychotherapy, with a focus on promoting healthcare equity and accessibility in the field of mental health. Sandy’s areas of interest also include mindfulness training, mood and anxiety disorders, and neuroplasticity.
Beyond Sandy’s academic pursuits, she enjoys knitting, petting cats, and making a good cup of tea.
