Comorbidity – Depression & Migraine
Mood Disorders Society of Canada continues to add to our mental health knowledge base that is available to Canadians to access through our website and social media streams. These updates provide awareness, education, coping strategies and resources to assist Canadian families.
Migraine and mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression frequently occur together, with research showing that people living with migraine are two to four times more likely to experience these mental health challenges. This strong, bidirectional relationship means that mental health issues can both contribute to and result from living with chronic migraine. The emotional and physical toll of ongoing migraine attacks can significantly impact quality of life, making it essential to consider mental health as a key part of comprehensive migraine care.
