FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE. Belleville, ON – March 4, 2026
Mood Disorders Society of Canada (MDSC) is pleased to announce that TD Bank Group (TD) has renewed its support with a three‑year commitment of close to $250,000 to advance the next phase of the MIRA Mental Health Intelligent Information Resource Assistant (MIRA) project. This new commitment, through the Bank’s corporate citizenship platform, the TD Ready Commitment, will help accelerate MIRA’s national expansion and advance its AI‑enhanced platform to improve equitable access to mental health support across Canada.
MIRA is a free, anonymous, AI‑powered mental health virtual assistant designed to help people navigate the complex mental health system and find trustworthy, evidence‑informed resources that match their needs and preferences. Coordinated by MDSC, MIRA is developed in collaboration with partners including the University of Alberta, Dalhousie University, the University of Saskatchewan, Western University, AI4Society, and the APEC Digital Hub for Mental Health, among others.
Unlike general internet searches, MIRA draws only from a rigorously vetted Resource Library, where each resource is reviewed by clinicians, researchers and people with lived experience to ensure quality, relevance and safety. MIRA runs on secure University of Alberta infrastructure and is being continually refined using user feedback, focus groups and formal evaluation protocols to improve empathy, clarity and cultural responsiveness.
“We are very grateful for TD’s ongoing commitment to advance mental health supports for Canadians through leveraging AI technology, ensuring equitable health access for sustained impact,” states Dave Gallson, National Executive Director, MDSC.
“Finding the right mental health support can be challenging, especially when the system can feel hard to navigate. Through the TD Ready Commitment, we’re supporting initiatives that help connect people with innovative healthcare tools and resources like MIRA. With greater access, people can find the care that fits their needs in ways that work for them.” Alicia Rose, AVP, Global Social Impact, Corporate Citizenship, TD Bank Group
